experience
For over 50 years, Coal City Volunteer Fire and EMS has proudly served the residents of Coal City, West Virginia, with dedication, courage, and compassion. As a volunteer-driven organization, we are committed to protecting lives and property through emergency response, fire suppression, medical services, and public education. Our team of highly trained volunteers stands ready 24/7 to respond to any call for help, continuing a legacy of service that has been a cornerstone of our community for half a century. We take pride in our history and remain focused on the future, with ongoing training and a steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of our neighbors.
In response to the closure of Rhodell Volunteer Fire Department in April of 2024, Coal City Volunteer Fire & EMS opened a substation in Rhodell, West Virginia. Since the Rhodell VFD was closed and oversight transferred to Coal City in 2024, this location has now become a fully operational substation. It houses Engine 52 and Tanker 52, as well as an ALS ambulance. This strategic expansion enhances response times and medical readiness in the Rhodell area, strengthening our mission of continuous, volunteer-led emergency service coverage across Raleigh County.
Coal City Volunteer Fire and EMS is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all individuals. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected characteristic in any of our activities or operations. This policy applies to all volunteers, employees, and partners.
